Advent stories
"Shall we go away for Christmas?"
“Let’s go away this year.”
“What?! But the kids, what are they supposed to do?”
“Look, they are all grown up now, living miles away from us. They would prefer to be in their own homes for Christmas anyway.”
“Well, where were you thinking?”
“I don’t know, I hadn’t got that far, but there are some seriously interesting options.”
“Like?”
“How about a week in an authentic Scottish castle, all log fires, thick blankets and crisp mountain walks?”
“I’d prefer some sun!”
“Ok, how about a week on a Caribbean island like Anguilla? Christmas dinner on the beach?”
“It is a bit remote. Would we be able to Skype the grandchildren?”
“I think they use Whats App or Zoom now, but I can find out.”
“I don’t know. It feels like we are abandoning them.”
“That’s the whole point; we are abandoning them as it’s just the two of us now.”
“I would need to check with them first. You know how protective Sarah is. Wouldn’t it be better to just stay here, just in case, you know? In case anything happens and they need us. You must admit it might be a possibility?”
“I’ll order a turkey”.
