Advent Stories
2. A quiet Christmas.
A Quiet Christmas
“What are you doing this year?”
“Oh, quiet. We’ll stay at home and have the rest of the family over for dinner. And you?”
“Visiting relatives and staying with my wife’s family has been mooted. How many do you think you’ll be cooking for?”
“Us four, then there’s my mum and dad. Rick and Sabrina and their two children, Barry and Elaine and their four kids”
“What? The feral ones?”
“Don’t interrupt! Then my sister and her partner and their two children. I think that’s it. Unless Charlie’s parents decide to come too. How many is that?”
“Ha! A quiet Christmas Day, then. Cooking, for twenty two!”
“When are you off?”
“We head to my sister in Cornwall on the 19th. Two days there. On 21st we are staying with friends in Bristol, just for the one night. We are due at Rebecca’s parents on 22nd”.
“That’s a drive, Bristol to Carlisle. You do that in one go? How long will you be there?”
“Until 27th, then we head back to Aylesbury for New Year with my folks. Due home on the 3rd!”
“Christmas! Such a lovely holiday; isn’t it?”
“Delightful!”
